The Pilot Rock Fire District provides emergency medical services to the City of Pilot Rock and surrounding 600 square miles in the form of a Quick Response Team. The "QRT" consists of Certified First Responders up to EMT-Paramedic's. The Division Chief for the EMS Division is Richard Hemphill, EMS Coordinator and EMT-Intermediate. Richard's responsibilities include logistics, personnel, and training needs of the QRT, as well as, coordinating with Pendleton Fire & Ambulance as our transporting ALS agency to the hospital. Recently, the Fire District upgraded our cardiac monitor/defibrillator with help from a Wildhorse Foundation grant. This grant money helped the QRT to purchase a new Zoll E-series monitor/defibrillator that also takes blood pressures, blood oxygen saturations, and pulse rates. This helps our medics to provide a better quality of patient care to the people of Pilot Rock.
